Find a Contractor or Consultant For Your Project
Revamped directory is now searchable
The Maryland Historical Trust maintains a list of preservation consultants who have expressed an interest in working on projects in Maryland.
Because it is not possible for us to fully verify the experience and credentials of the firms and individuals included in our lists, we strongly recommend that you ask for and check references before hiring anyone included in these lists.
Contact Kathy Monday at (410) 514-7627 for more information about the Consultant Directory.

Disclaimer
In providing this directory, the Maryland Historical Trust is in no way endorsing any of the included consultants or the quality of their work. The consultantsin this directory have asked to be included because they have provided, or have expressed interest in providing, professional services in the identification, evaluation, and treatment of Maryland’s historic resources. The lists are by no means comprehensive and the fact that a consultant is not listed does not mean that they may not be qualified.
Things to remember when selecting a contractor or consultant
-
Always check references
- Be sure to ask your contractor for a list of recently completed projects and clients that you can speak with about the quality of their work and the client's experience with that contractor.
-
Ask about Historic Preservation Experience
- Ask your contractor/consultant about their experiences working with preservation programs such as Rehabilitation Tax Credits, local Historic Preservation Commissions, and Section 106 review
-
Verify all applicable licenses
- Many professions and trades require licensing by the State or local government. Be sure to verify that your contractor/consultant is in good standing with all applicable licensing organizations.
- Visit the Maryland Home Improvement Commission's website to search for a Home Improvement Contractor's license.
