Statewide Preservation Plan
Planning for 2024-2031 is Underway
And we want to hear from you! The Maryland Historical Trust is seeking feedback to help inform the 2024-2031 update to the statewide preservation plan, which will guide historic preservation, archaeology, and cultural heritage activities around the state. You can participate by completing this survey and joining one of our public meetings this summer! Meeting times and locations will be posted here when scheduled.

PreserveMaryland II, the statewide preservation plan (2019-2023), is a five-year guidance document for government agencies, non-profit advocates and others involved in historic preservation, archaeology and cultural heritage in Maryland. To develop the plan and make recommendations for the future, MHT convened an interdisciplinary advisory committee and solicited feedback via open public meetings around the state, focus groups and surveys, as well as stakeholder interviews. Based on this feedback, PreserveMaryland II retains the goals and updates the previous plan, PreserveMaryland, with new and enhanced action items.
MHT will periodically solicit feedback on progress and release updates to the plan. If you have questions about PreserveMaryland II or wish to share an update from your agency or organization, please contact Nell Ziehl at nell.ziehl@maryland.gov or (410) 697-9592.
