Statewide Preservation Plan

The 2024-2031 update to the statewide preservation plan is currently underway! We appreciate everyone who participated in public meetings, focus groups, and surveys in the last several months, and we expect to share the plan draft goals and strategies for additional feedback later this fall. Sign up for our newsletter or follow us on Facebook to stay up-to-date on the latest news. If you have questions about the planning process, please contact Brenna Spray, outreach coordinator, at brenna.spray@maryland.gov.
PreserveMaryland II, the statewide preservation plan (2019-2023), is a five-year guidance document for government agencies, non-profit advocates and others involved in historic preservation, archaeology and cultural heritage in Maryland. To develop the plan and make recommendations for the future, MHT convened an interdisciplinary advisory committee and solicited feedback via open public meetings around the state, focus groups and surveys, as well as stakeholder interviews. Based on this feedback, PreserveMaryland II retains the goals and updates the previous plan, PreserveMaryland, with new and enhanced action items.
MHT will periodically solicit feedback on progress and release updates to the plan. If you have questions about PreserveMaryland II or wish to share an update from your agency or organization, please contact Nell Ziehl at nell.ziehl@maryland.gov or (410) 697-9592.
