The Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) administers grant programs that assist in a wide variety of historic preservation-related activities. Each program has different eligibility standards, requirements, forms, and deadlines, so please be sure to read each program's guidelines and contact the program's staff person prior to submitting an application. FY26 African American Heritage Preservation Program

MHT is pleased to announce that the FY 2026 African American Heritage Preservation Program Grant Program round opens on March 30th, 2025. Applications are due by 11:59 pm on June 30th, 2025. Historic Preservation Non-Capital Grant Program in FY26

In recent years, funding totaling $300,000 has been distributed from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority Financing Fund to support MHT's Historic Preservation Non-Capital Grant Program. At its July 10, 2025 meeting, the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority will consider whether to allocate funding for a new round. If funding is not allocated, MHT's Historic Preservation Non-Capital Grant Program will remain closed until alternative sources of funding can be identified to support the program.
