Governor's Consulting Committee on the National Register of Historic Places
The Governor's Consulting Committee on the National Register of Historic Places (GCC) was created in 1967 after the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 gave states new responsibilities. Under that law, the state must nominate historic places for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Before those nominations go to the National Park Service, they must be reviewed by the GCC.
Members are appointed by the Governor and serve four-year terms.
