Annual Tyler Bastian Field Session
The Annual Tyler Bastian Field Session, held in cooperation with the Maryland Historical Trust, is one of Archeological Society of Maryland (ASM)'s most popular programs. This 11-day field and lab training program is complete with lecture series, workshops, and meal/camping facilities.
On-line registration is recommended and is handled by ASM at the link above. This will aid planners in creation of attendance lists used to determine what work will be performed on specific dates. The email address provided in your registration will be used to notify you of any changes in plans.

- Date and time: May 22nd, 2026 to June 1st, 2026
- Location: Maxwell Hall Equestrian Park, 6680 Maxwell Dr, Hughesville, MD, 20637
The purpose of the field session is to introduce lay persons to archeological methods and to teach Maryland's past through hands-on involvement, while making meaningful contributions to the study of Maryland archeology. This year, the field session will return to the Teagues Point archeological site. This will be a return to the site after last year's session left unanswered questions about postholes.
